Skiing Magazine Ranks Schweitzer among Top 25 Ski Resorts
Schweitzer places at number 21 out of over 500 ski areas in North America

Sandpoint, ID - Skiing Magazine readers voted Schweitzer Mountain Resort as number 21 in the magazine’s annual survey to decide the top 25 ski resorts in North America. By receiving this rating, Schweitzer joins the ranks of well known destination resorts such as Whistler, Alta/Snowbird, Jackson Hole, and Crested Butte. Schweitzer is nestled in the rugged Selkirk Mountains of the Idaho panhandle and the northwest Rocky Mountains. The resort is well known for its two massive bowls, breathtaking views and amazing gladed terrain.

“This is a huge honor for Schweitzer, and we couldn’t be more delighted,” said Dave Kulis, director of sales and marketing for the resort. “More than anything we want to thank our guests who love Schweitzer, as this ranking is a direct result of their votes. This tribute really proves to the world what locals have always known about our amazing terrain and snow.”

Skiing Magazine survey respondents repeatedly commented on Schweitzer’s excellent, expansive and uncrowded terrain, the high quality snow and the friendly staff. With two new chairlifts being installed for the 07-08 winter season, for a total of ten lifts, Schweitzer will continue to offer excellent service and almost non-existent lift lines.

Schweitzer Mountain Resort offers
2900 acres of skiable in bounds terrain. Two thousand additional acres of cat skiing are available off the back of the mountain from the top of The Great Escape Quad. Even more acreage is accessible out of bounds via the resort’s open gate policy. Schweitzer averages 300 inches of snowfall per season. The region typically receives a high quality, stable snow pack that is drier than the snow in the Cascade Mountains.

Schweitzer overlooks the town of Sandpoint and Lake Pend Oreille, which are sought out and recognized as destinations for diverse recreation opportunities year-round.
