SUMMER

Schweitzer offers more options in the summer with Great Escape Packages
The ready-made and personalized adventure makes it easy for families to hop in the car and check-in. No heavy planning or major logistics to consider. Arrive, visit the Mountain Activity Center and schedule your activities: from mountain biking to a day at Silverwood Theme Park, to a round of disc golf before lunch and huckleberry picking for dessert afterward....all paid for with the Schweitzer Adventure Bucks received when booking a night at one of the two mountain lodges.

The best of mountain and lake
Inevitably, after a few days of adventures on the mountain, the exquisite view from Schweitzer draws people down to bask in the sun on the shore of Lake Pend Oreille. Enjoy a cruise on the Shawnodese or rent a kayak or boat and paddle out to the Bottle Bay Marina, Schweitzer's new summer partner. Refuel your boat, grab a dinner and a drink and enjoy a night in a lakefront cabin. The Marina is just a short drive from Sandpoint, and even shorter by boat. Enjoy Schweitzer by land and water this summer.

Huckleberries delight young and old
Idaho's state fruit is a tangy and delicious member of the blueberry family. Huckleberries grow in mid-Alpine regions in the Pacific Northwest. These luscious berries are abundant on the slopes of Schweitzer. The Mountain Activity Center may share their secret spots with visitors who can go out and pick buckets. Try a huckleberry shake at Alpenglow Deli, an icy huckleberry lemonade at the Mojo Coyote Café, or pick your own and make pancakes. Better yet, eat them right off the bush when they are warm from the sun. The Huckleberry Festival will honor and celebrate everything huckleberry August 2nd at Schweitzer Mountain.

Downhill mountain biking is back at Schweitzer!
The Northwest's Premiere downhill racing event will make it's third stop at Schweitzer August 20-22, 2010. Schweitzer will be building a new pro trail for the event and will designate existing trails for the beginner and intermediate divisions.

WINTER

Big Mountain Experiences, Down-Home Prices
The Schweitzer Difference Vacation Package offers convenience, affordability and fun. Including two adult ski clinics and complimentary hot breakfast buffet for the whole family, the Schweitzer Difference package starts at $39 per person. Coupled with the new Family Suites in the Selkirk Lodge, this package offers great value for a family ski trip.  While mom and dad are enjoying the free ski clinic, kids can join their peers in Kinderkamp, settle into the Selkirk Theater for a movie, or explore the terrain on their own.

Sustainable Steps
While ski resorts leave a footprint on the natural world, they also provide a way for people to get out and appreciate that world during coldest months of the year. From wind powered chairlifts and creating the position of an environmental coordinator, to more sustainable building and geothermal heating, Schweitzer has found ways to lessen the impact. In addition, by simply recycling, creating awareness throughout employee offices, and energy efficient light bulbs in lodging, Schweitzer is taking measures to ensure that they can connect people to the environment without hurting it.

Nordic Skiing
With over 32 kilometers and varied terrain of Nordic trails, Schweitzer offers enthusiasts not only a challenge but also a spectacular view to truly enjoy the beauty of their sport. Nordic skiing is a sport that does not require a lot of equipment but keeps skiers healthy and happy. At Schweitzer exploring is always encouraged and clinics are available to help one ride to the best of their ability, making the scenic trails that much more enjoyable to discover.

Terrain Park
A ski resort without a terrain park is like peanut butter without jelly - it just does not make sense. Schweitzer is host to some of the best park features available in the Pacific Northwest thanks in large part to local Ben Spinney of SpinneyBent Rails. Dan Nylund, freestyle terrain manager, and the rest of the crew are no strangers to the terrain park. Get the low down by joining Dan and the rangers to see what happens behind the scenes in building, maintaining and testing the terrain park features at night.
Photo Journal: Kids and teens are making new turns in the ski and snowboard industry. They have a fresh outlook on the sport and incorporate their own spin on classic moves. Spend a day in the Terrain Park capturing a glimpse of the future.

Ski Patrol
Ski patrollers make any resort a more fun and enjoyable place to ride; and this is certainly the case at Schweitzer Mountain Resort. At one time or another each person has encountered an experience with the ski patrol whether they're lending a helping hand on the mountain or saying a friendly hello. Tribute is to be paid to those that protect a sport that is enjoyed around the world.

Best of the Mountain and the Lake
Schweitzer Mountain Resort is located in one of the most spectacular areas - Sandpoint, ID. Not only do you get to enjoy the snow and the festivities found on the mountain, but you also get to experience Sandpoint and one of the largest and most beautiful lakes in the country, Lake Pend Oreille. Only part of the lake freezes during the winter due to its size, but ice skaters and fishermen take full advantage of the frozen bays. Visitors and local's alike venture into town to listen to live music and watch films at the historical Panida Theater, shop, find local art, dine, and enjoy wine tastings - all within view of the lake.

Mountain Divas
This is a program just for the ladies that love having fun out on the slopes! Mountain Divas is a four week program that improves confidence and ability by working with Schweitzer Mountain Resorts top female coaches. It is available Tuesdays and Saturdays so you can get your mid-week snow fix or come up to ski with gal-pals while the kids are at Funatics or Mountain Xplorers. March 5th and 6th will be and intensive Mountain Dive weekend which includes lunch, video taping to help improve skills, analysis, and a reception to celebrate accomplishments with the ladies.
Photo Journal: Get the inside scoop as to what these ladies are all about. Join in on the drills for a day or spend the weekend for the intensive training March 5th and 6th.
